30 Days of Self Care: Day Thirty
Mental Self Care
Mental Self Care is doing things that take care of our minds, bodies and souls by engaging in activities that help promote our well being, in an effort to reduce or eliminate the factors in our lives that cause anxiety, worry or stress. But, we must consider that it is not a one time deal--we need to continue a habitual routine of self care throughout our lives. It must become so engrained into our daily living that it happens naturally and without much thought to its efficacy or importance. We are important. We should continue to make ourselves a priority. The process to maintain balance in our lives is a continuation of good choices, right decisions and best efforts to maximize our optimal living. A vehicle without fuel does not work. Sure, put gas in it and it goes, but over time, if it is not properly maintained, there becomes more problems along the way. Your mental health care during seasons of stress can cause you to not properly function well. Quitting is not an option. Keep working on your self care and allow the time necessary to be the vehicle that can go for long durations, because its owner took really good care of it. This world needs what you have to offer. Continue making good choices and stay in the race of living an optimal life!
Remember: We must serve ourselves first in order to go out and better serve the world. Quitting is not an option. Keep finding new ways to take care of yourself so that you can live a long life of well being and being productive. The world needs you.

- Change your scenery. Get to another area, just beyond the bend, for an overnight respite.
- Some people say go to the quietest place in the neighborhood: the cemetery. They listen.
- Unplug and be a kid again. Go for an ice cream!
- Love mathematics? Search online for hard problems and take a crack at solving them.
- Write a book. Take all that knowledge you have and share it with the world.
- Trust in your own intuition, guidance with prayer and perhaps, stop listening to ill advice.
- Take a break from your cell phone. Don't accept texts or calls for a block of time.
- Wash your face or take a quick shower. Sometimes it's time to be refreshed.
- Say yes to some video games. A short amount of time can be a great mental break.
- Go pick wild flowers, collect pine cones, seashells or rocks out in nature.
