30 Days of Self Care: Day Nineteen
30 Days of Self Care: Day Nineteen
Sensory Self Care
Our lives can be so busy with a multitude of work and family obligations, as well as the need to care for others and do it well. Sometimes we just need to unplug. Give yourself a few moments of rest. Enjoy a minute of peace. Once we get that needed rest, we are recharged to take on what is next! Your own understanding of what self-care means to you will change and evolve as you learn more about yourself and your individual needs. At first, maybe it looks like simply not doing a behavior that is self destructive and avoiding unhealthy situations. Then it looks something like putting it into your regular schedule. In the long term, the goal is to understand your own needs on a deeper level—being ahead of the curve and learning what your mind and body need to be at its healthiest and happiest. You will then be able to go quickly to what you need without hesitating or having to consider what to do. You will already know! How exciting is that?! It's called self awareness. Learning to recognize your own needs and how to attend to them is truly paramount. Keep this up and soon you will be an expert at it and be able to teach others how to take care of themselves as well. Progress!
Remember: We must serve ourselves first in order to go out and better serve the world. Unplug, even for just a moment and watch your internal battery get quickly recharged. Combine self care with things you enjoy with your senses and take delight in all the things you love.
