Sing and Praise His Name

Sing and Praise His Name

We worship God who does not stay angry with us. The bible tells us of God's discipline is necessary in our lives. His whole being is to be in relationship with his children. He blesses us in ways we do not even consider. We must look at the amount of joy and sorrow we have over the span of our lives. While we only have but few times of sorrow, somehow we contemplate those sad times more than we do our blessings. In MacLaren's Expositions in biblical commentary he writes, "The rose’s prickles are felt in the flesh longer than its fragrance lives in the nostrils, or its hue in the eye. Men have long memories for their pains as compared with their remembrance of their sorrows."
We can choose to see the bad in our lives or focus on the good. Take for example, when we look at a paper with a black background and white object. We can either focus on the black or the white and see something different in each. We can choose what we want to see in our lives just the same way! MacLaren went on further: "They who will can surround themselves with persistent gladness, and they who will can gather about them the thick folds of an everbrooding and enveloping sorrow. Courage, cheerfulness, thankfulness, buoyancy, resolution, are all closely connected with a sane estimate of the relative proportions of the bright and the dark in a human life." While we cannot completely choose our emotions, we can regulate them, because it is within our own aspects of life to determine which ways we will contemplate our daily lives.
My favorite quote of MacLaren: "It takes all sorts of weathers to make a year, and all tend to the same issue, of ripened harvests and full barns." We will have pain. We will have sorrow. We will struggle. We will indeed have trials. But, we will also reap a true harvest of joy and gratitude! We will have many reasons to dance and sing unto our Lord. We will be given numerous ways to consider being glad in Him and all the blessings He bestows upon his children! AMEN!

"For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning."-- Psalm 30:5
We are better together.
Have a blessed day, Kimala
