Fruits of the Spirit: LOVE

 Fruits of the Spirit

DAY SIX: LOVE
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another."--John 13:34
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? ..."--Matthew 5:43-48
"Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law."--Romans 13:10
Funny thing about love: it covers a multitude of sins. It burns so brightly that we can become blinded to any other pain when we feel love. Love grows. It reminds me of an abandoned field where life once stood and now the beauty of nature has taken over, producing greenery and flowers in its place. God asks us to love others as he loves us--fully.

DEFINITION
An intense feeling of deep affection, a great interest or pleasure in something or someone. The act of caring and giving to someone else. Having someone's best interest and wellbeing as a priority in your life. To truly love is a very selfless act.
Biblical definition shares with us that Jesus is the reason we even know what love is. In laying down His life for us, He taught us everything we need to know about true love. Love is self-sacrificing, generous, unending, not a temporary feeling or attraction. Because of God's love for the world, we know love is also undeserving and often unreciprocated.

THE TASK TODAY: Love others well. Pray for your enemies, producing empathy for those who attempt to go against you. God loves all of us and He asks us to love others just as well. Anyone that is in your heart that strikes chords of ill will, ask God to help you wash those away and replace with caring feelings of love. In doing any good works for others, show Christ-like love with no complaints or grumbling.
We are better together.
Have a blessed day, Kimala
