Be Like Unleavened Bread

The bible uses references to breadmaking because it helped not only the people of that day, but it continues to help us today. Leavened bread is puffed up while unleavened bread is flat. Being puffed up with pride, filled with malice and wickedness, is what we want to rid ourselves from. God says to throw out the old puffed up bread and start fresh! Through Jesus, who is the Passover Lamb that was slain for our sins, we can begin again with new unleavened bread. A little good yeast goes a long way! The new bread of life, Jesus Christ, is filled with sincerity and truth!
Throw out the old bread and start fresh.
Malice basically refers to evil thoughts and intentions. It’s from the Greek word kakia. Thayer’s Greek Lexicon includes these definitions that can help us recognize this deadly ingredient: “malignity … ill-will, desire to injure … wickedness, depravity … wickedness that is not ashamed to break laws … evil, trouble.”
It's time to have a fresh start. Jesus is the answer to this new beginning. We cannot have both. We must turn away from the old and begin again, brand new in Christ. Are you ready?
1 Corinthians chapter 5
6Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven works through the whole batch of dough? 7Get rid of the old leaven, that you may be a new unleavened batch, as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8Therefore let us keep the feast, not with the old bread, leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and of truth.

PRAYER

Lord, thank you for you word. I love bread. I know your analogy shows me that I cannot have one foot in both worlds. I must toss out the old and work in me a little bit at a time to bring about a whole new life through prayer and your biblical word. As you say, a little bit works through the whole batch of dough. I look back on my journey and see the results as each day passes and I can see my life tapestry of weaving you into it. Thank you Lord, for being with me each step of the way. I trust you to work in me a new unleavened bread that shows you the sincerity and truth you desire in me. In Jesus mighty name, Amen.
We are better together.
Have a blessed day, Kimala
