30 Days of Self Care: Day Twenty-Five
30 Days of Self Care: Day Twenty-Five
Practical Self Care
If you are a parent, your children will be looking to you to see how you are handling things during tough times. Whether there is conversation about it or not, they watch and emulate what you do and say. This is yet another reason why it is so important to take care of ourselves. In uncertain times, they will be looking to you to guide them. Your actions and your mindset matter. It is perfectly okay to practice self care while your kids are present. It's great to model and teach them that they need to make taking care of themselves a priority, too. In doing so, you will find their behaviors improve and be more calm in the process. Be intentional with the time you are spending with your family and enjoy them. You won't always have opportunities to spend quality time with them as perhaps you are doing so right now. Get a daily dose of ecotherapy by getting out of your house every day. I love grabbing a chair and sitting in the sunshine. Each person will have their own set of unique ways to include practical self care into their daily. Your other family members with have theirs, as well. Listen to your inner voice and allow yourself to enjoy the small things in life, for it is the small things that truly become the big things. Cherish them.
Remember: We must serve ourselves first in order to go out and better serve the world. Cherish the time you have now with your family and choose to spend it as quality time. Find ways of self care that are unique to your individuality.
