30 Days of Self Care: Day Twelve
Sensory Self Care
When we work on our Sensory Self Care we are saying to our selves that being in touch with our any of our senses is vital to our well being. Go back to Day Five to read again the description of what Sensory Self Care is and why it's so important.
We use our five senses every day, every hour, every minute, every second; and without realizing this. But when things in our life jolt us off balance and needing some time for ourselves with self care, turning to our senses is one of the best ways to quickly feel refreshed and rebounding in no time. The difference? When we use our senses in a way to allow ourselves to feel better, we focus on ways that we enjoy and navigate towards. If you need to break away from things because of sensory overload, it's clear that in that case, removal of all things that cause distraction is best. If you do not have all of your five senses, then other senses become stronger, for example, if you do not have vision, then your sense of touch or smell may be stronger. What's important is that you turn to the things that awaken your soul. Be refreshed with the senses and learn to live your best life in harmony with wonder.
Remember: We must serve ourselves first in order to go out and better serve the world. Take your senses to the next level by practicing sensory self care that resonates with you. If it means unplugging and getting quiet, then do that. If it means, navigating towards a sense that you find most relaxing, then go for it.
