30 Days of Self Care: Day Ten

30 Days of Self Care:  Day Ten

Physical Self Care

When we work on our Physical Self Care we are saying to our selves that health and physical fitness matters. Go back to Day Three to read again the description of what Physical Self Care is and why it's so important.

Taking good care of our physical bodies can provide more stamina, energy, focus, endurance, stability and much more. We need to pay attention to what we put in our bodies because we know that the combination of food and exercise allows us to go the distance when necessary. When things are working well, just like a well-oiled machine, it runs smoothly. We should trust that God wants us to be in the best shape that we can be in, only to serve Him and serve Him well. We must be ready when He calls us to serve others in any capacity. It's difficult to volunteer if we can't walk up the hill or have the agility to be in a remote terrain, or the energy to stay awake for a long period of time. The same goes for nutrition. We all know that the body works best when given the top choice foods.  Let's make it a practice to do our best today in eating well. Your body will thank you for it!

Remember:  We must serve ourselves first in order to go out and better serve the world.  Get up and get going on expending the energy in our bodies from the healthy food fuel we intake.  You are on your way to a successful day!

DAY TEN:  PHYSICAL SELF CARE

Part of the daily walk with Christ is knowing what is expected of us once we say no to our old ways and yes to our new life with Him. Through the biblical word we can grow, restrain, refine, enhance, embrace and become all the things that God wants from us, moving closer to Him. This evolving discernment continues each day along a new path, helping us to be more like Christ. In the physical sense, we must turn away from any behaviors that will not allow us to maintain a pure and honorable way of living. While we may make mistakes, we must trust that God is working in us and He is for us. He wants us to turn away from the sinful nature of worldly behaviors and take on our new identity in Him. Trust the process as He shows you a better way to live your life. Be faithful to living an excellent life with your spouse, your family and most of all, to God.

BIBLICAL VERSES FOR PHYSICAL SELF CARE:
  • "After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church– for we are members of his body."--Ephesians 5:29-30
  • "that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,"-- 1 Thessalonians 4:4
  • "Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both of them. Yet the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body."--1 Corinthians 6:13
  • "For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing."--Luke 12:23
  • "But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts."--Romans 13:14

ACTION STEPS

Here are a few ways we can cover our physical self care today:
  • Take a cruise around the neighborhood or park on a bicycle. Go at your own pace.
  • Try yoga. You can take a class or do one in your home with an online class.
  • Take the stairs. Get ambitious and go up and down several times to get the heart rate up.
  • Enjoy a facial or face mask. You can go to a professional or try one at home.
  • Go swimming for fun. Sitting in a floatie does not count.
  • Elevate your heart by doing a series of jumping jacks and running in place.
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables. Try skipping the meat and go for one vegetarian meal.
  • Lavish your skin in an extra emollient lotion.
  • Have sex. Yes, I wrote that. Sexual intimacy does amazing things for you physically.
  • Walk around on grass with no shoes on. Experience the ground barefooted.
