Self care means taking care of yourself so that you can be healthy, you can be well, you can do your job, you can help and care for others, and you can do all the things you need to and want to accomplish in a day. Physical self care includes how you're fueling your body, how much sleep you're getting, how much physical activity you are doing, and how well you're caring for your physical needs. Attending appointments, taking medication as prescribed, and managing your health are all part of good physical self-care. Are you going in for regular check ups with your physician and dentist? These kinds of activities will serve you well as a preventative measure. Do not wait until things with the body begin to fall apart. Treat your body as if it's the most expensive car you decided to drive off the lot. You will do your best to maintain it, so why not your body. It’s all the steps an individual can take to manage stressors in his or her life and take care of his or her own health and well-being. Besides for the basic routine things like brushing our teeth or taking a shower we can look to doing preventative things like going to routine check ups and taking 15-30 minute exercise breaks in our day. Your body is under your care. Treat it well.

Remember:  We must serve ourselves first in order to go out and better serve the world.  Live a life as an example of what it is to take good care of yourself physically.  Eat right, exercise and rest when needed.  You were given that body to live in so treat it well.
DAY SEVENTEEN:  PHYSICAL SELF CARE
As we continue along our Christian walk, we are ever changing, ever growing more Christ-like. It is a continual process of reshaping and morphing away from our old lifestyle and old sinful nature and into a pure way of living and being. Our bodies and minds want nothing more than to chase after things that are pleasing, but more often, those are things from our past and ways that no longer serve us, in fact, never served us very well. We can recognize that, while it may be difficult to stay on the straighter course, living a life as a Christian is better for us. Our lives are more together than falling apart. It is a daily sacrifice of our flesh to live a life for God. Sin chases us.
The idea of sacrifice is that of dedication. We must offer, or present ourselves before God, with all our living energies and powers directed consciously to God's service. Our worship should take the form of a self-dedication; its service consists in holiness of life, temperance, soberness, and chastity. The outward life of a Christian is sacrifice. That, again, includes two things-self-surrender and surrender to God.
Paul writes to yield yourselves unto God, and your bodies as instruments of righteousness unto Him.’ So, then, first of all, we must be priests by our inward consecration, and then, since ‘a priest must have somewhat to offer,’ we must bring the outward life and lay it upon His altar. That all our activities done by means of brain and eye and tongue and hand and foot shall be consciously devoted to Him. In Ellicott's Commentary he writes: "Let thine eye look upon no evil thing, and it hath become a sacrifice; let thy tongue speak nothing filthy, and it hath become an offering; let thy hand do no lawless deed, and it hath become a whole burnt offering. But this is not enough, we must do good works also; let the hand do alms, the mouth bless them that despitefully use us, and the ear find leisure evermore for the hearing of Scripture. For sacrifice can be made only of that which is clean; sacrifice is a firstfruit of other actions. Let us, then, from our hands, and feet, and mouth, and all our other members, yield a firstfruit unto God."
"Sacrifice is the keynote-meaning thereby surrender, control, and stimulus of the corporeal frame, surrender to God, in regard to the impressions which we allow to be made upon our senses, to the indulgence which we grant to our appetites, and the satisfaction which we seek for our needs, and to the activities which we engage in by means of this wondrous instrument with which God has trusted us." "All through your life, recurring with daily regularity, reservoirs of power, stations where you may rest, kneeling-places where the attitude of service is exchanged for the attitude of supplication; times of quiet communion with God which shall feed the worshipper’s activities as the white snowfields on the high summits feed the brooks that sparkle by the way, and bring fertility wherever they run. So, dear brethren, remember that whilst life is the field of worship there must be the inward worship within the shrine if there is to be the outward service." --MacLaren's Expositions
So today, offer your firstfruits to God. Let your body represent you well before Him. Let your life show as a living example that you are doing good works for Him, living for God and striving to be holy and pleasing for Him alone.
