30 Days of Self Care: Day Nine
30 Days of Self Care: Day Nine
Mental Self Care
When we work on our Mental Self Care we are saying to our selves that our mental state matters. Go back to Day Two to read again the description of what Mental Self Care is and why it's so important.
Let's face it. We all need mental breaks. Watching the news, reading today's headlines, observing what's happening internationally, all takes a toll on our minds. We may not even notice when we personally begin to shut down, but it happens. We can become despondent to the things that are important to us because our minds need to "check out" for a time. Not doing so can lead to depression and/or illness. Let's not push ourselves to that point. There are many ways we can give ourselves this much needed rest and create mindful diversions while still enjoying life. Only you know your body as well as you do, so your idea of resting may be to learn something new, which in a sense, is activating the brain. This clearly may not be the kind of rest that another would have in their minds, which they might choose an easier task of relaxation or unplugging from their life for a moment. Find your best way to get the mental self care you need today.
Remember: We must serve ourselves first in order to go out and better serve the world. Enjoy a mental break by either revving your creativity and learning up a notch or be unplugging and decompressing for a few moments. Whatever your body needs, you get to decide.
DAY NINE: MENTAL SELF CARE
- "I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.”--Jeremiah 31:25
- “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” --Exodus 33:14
- "You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you."--Isaiah 26:3
- “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”--Matthew 25-27
- Take "should" out of your vocabulary. Stop thinking you should be doing things.
- Learn how to keep track of your money by making a budget.
- Sew, Quilt or Crochet a project for yourself or as something to gift. Engage the hands.

- Get some inspiration by reading stories of people who overcame adversity.
- Use online tutorials to learn something new.
- Catch up on your favorite blog.
- Declutter your wardrobe. Give away three things each month that you don't wear.
- Unplug from email and social media for one hour.
