30 Days of Self Care: Day Eleven

30 Days of Self Care:  Day Eleven

Practical Self Care

When we work on our Practical Self Care we are saying to our selves that we can do the necessary things that we find pleasurable. Go back to Day Four to read again the description of what Practical Self Care is and why it's so important.

There are days when things around us can seem dark and dismal. Maybe you just found out that someone you truly care about is in the hospital or under doctor's orders to be restricted at home. Perhaps you found out news about something that directly affects your way of living, that will immediately change your financial means or practical means of living. When things around us change, we often do not like it. Perhaps it is because we are creatures of comfort, relying on our normal routines and the people we are used to being in our sphere. But one thing is true, when things change, it can wreck havoc on our sense of losing control. But, over time we may adapt to change and realize that it can be a good thing for us. In the middle of it, be good to yourself.  Take the necessary steps needed to ensure your self care is tended to while you are in transition. People get well, job changes can be a good thing, as well as home and life shifts. Embrace it and be kind to yourself.

Remember:  We must serve ourselves first in order to go out and better serve the world.  Today, find ways that are practical and you deem pleasurable in your life.  Take that break and lavish yourself in goodness.

DAY TEN:  PRACTICAL SELF CARE

The Lord does indeed bless people. He decides who He can entrust to be a worthy steward over money and wealth. If you find yourself in such a position, having financial freedom and a wonderful career you truly enjoy, then it pleases God that you can be confident in your place in this world, guided by Him, to accept this position and enjoy it. Many people believe that God doesn't want us to be rich. This is not true. There are other verses to support how to steward money and ways to take care of other's needs as well, if given the ability to do so. But for the sake of questioning if God wants us to be happy with a wealthier stake in this life, the answer is simply yes. But remember: where does this come from? It is from God--not your own hand. Miss that important point, and it the quickest second, He can take it all away, if he decides it to be so. God is a loving Father and He wants your time, attention and obedience to be directed towards Him. If He chooses you to walk with wealth, then oh, be blessed and rejoice!

BIBLICAL VERSES FOR PRACTICAL SELF CARE:
  • "There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience."--Hebrews 4:9-11
  • "Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work–this is a gift of God."-Ecclesiastes 5:19
  • "The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail."--Isaiah 58:11

Today, do something for your practical self care.  Begin to recognize why you need some self care, remembering that not everything is in our control, but in the process we can make sure we do something that is pleasing to us while we wait for life's outcomes.

Have a blessed day, Kimala
